Can anyone tell me what size the Torx head is on the valve cover of a 2008 2.7L. There are two on the drivers side and I can't raise the cover high enough to clear them. The wiring harness is up as far as it will go and I've unclipped all the connectors. There isn't enough thread on the stud to use two nuts jammed together to take them out.

Ironically I just bought the Lexivon inch pound torque wrench. And thanks, I just ordered the external Torx set. I just hope the studs aren't glued in or otherwise difficult to get out.

I had a few that didn’t seem to want to come out. Since I was taking the heads to the machine at the time I just had them remove the stubborn ones. For all I know they would come out if I would have tried a bit harder.

I would make sure that you have an idea about how to get them out when you attempt to do so. I think folks have suggested using heat on stubborn ones when needed. Hopefully others can respond with some suggestions. You definitely don’t want to snap them.

As it turns out the TORX size is a six and they weren't even very tight in the head. I was massively worried they would not come out. I still can't figure out why they are even there. Does not make any sense to me since there is plenty of "meat" there for regular bolts.

Its purpose is for helping to line up the valve cover to the head.
