    Hello All!

My name is Charlie and I have a 2016 TRD Off-road I've had a few years now, love the truck but have a problem with the factory radio. It resets constantly which is thankfully all it does wrong. But it is a nuisance I am looking to fix. The dealer told me they basically are aware of the problem but Toyota isn't doing anything to fix it other then try updating it and try replacing it. Neither worked so I'm on option 3 which is swap to an aftermarket unit.

I am trying to not spend $1000+
I also do not NEED a bigger screen
    I don't use XM
I would like factory steering wheel controls to work if possible!
I do however plan to run a front camera in the future and would love to have android auto.

    What are my options?

Just asking the easy question first, are you sure that you are updated. Edit to update to the post with the latest 2016 to 2019 info:

Check you Audio ID against the latest TSB.

A/M head units will do all of that for you. I have not ventured there though.

So Toyota dealer is the one who told me my truck was up to date, but I will follow up on this and check for myself thank you for the link!

Yes, please. Just go to that software update screen and compare the Model ID and Audio Version to what is shown in the TSB. They might have did you go, but it is good to know for sure.

OK so I looked up my truck on the TSB and found out it's an Entune Premium Audio system, downloaded the necessary files from the Dropbox listed (huge thanks!!!) And successfully updated my head unit.

So now I will continue to drive it and see if it resets on me!

We've had our hands on that since September. If you had taken it in anytime after that, there's no excuse for them.

So bad news is that the radio is still resetting on me unfortunately....

I really hate this and really don't want to spend over $800 to fix it.....

That sucks. Sorry to hear it.

A couple things that you can try:

-- Wipe all data. That is in the menus some where. Kinda blows to redo all of your settings, but . . .

-- The final try is that there is a hidden menu where you can perform an internal reset. I'm not sure that it will help, but it might?

Could be an electrical gremlin, power or ground. Or it could be software glitches. Hail Mary….. disconnect battery and touch the leads for a bit.

This is a Software/firmware issue with these Entune radios from Panasonic, they all suffer some breakdown in functions and basically can't be fixed by toyota which I find to be BS....

CarPlay entune 3.0 is occasionally available used for $1k’ish. Maybe troll around looking for someone that’s going that upgrade route and try and buy their existing unit for half that?

Those menus should still work the same. The other video that I saw showed the Entune Plus from the SR / SR5s. Same deal.
