Likely true. Maybe the best way to think about it is trucks now aren't nearly as over-built as they used to be so using them off highway and on trails wears them out a lot faster.

Bingo. Made for highway not dirt roads and trail. I fixed my issue thus far with a flat bed.

Question to y’all Running the total chaos bed stiffers with a sleeping platform and drawer system...

I bought some at the helm bed stiffeners thinking they would clear the circled support area, but the drawer is just barley going to hit it.

It looks like the same area on the total chaos ones are shorter and I won’t have to alter my drawer system to get it to work.

Better yet, maybe someone can give me a measurement of that whole bottom section so I can be exactly sure.

    Thanks!

They’re cheap insurance and I enjoy having the added tie down points!

    So. Many. Stickers.
My dishwasher is getting an ARB sticker, in honor of this post, and in honor of Geddy Lee's propensity to use household appliances on stage in lieu of large amp stacks.

All in fun. I'm actually getting a set here soon, want the mounting points, esp the upright one for a whip/antenna/flag.

I am not sure the bed needs stiffening, BUT my bed was NOT square and had SOME flex. I put the TC stiffeners on yesterday. Now square and stout.

I bought a set from Total Chaos and am happy with them. Squared up the bed a bit and provide some nice anchor point for tie downs. I also added a shell so I felt it might help with that.

    Working on it ...
My take is, you do what you Gotta do. I’ve had a pre-Tacoma Toyota truck 2 first gens and now a third Gen. One of the first Gens was a 2000 four-cylinder and I’d tow cars with it on a trailer and throw all sorts of stuff in the back of that beast. Never had an issue towing or hauling even though it was only a four-cylinder manual. And I’ve made like no upgrades to the bad boy truck in the time that I had it before it was T-boned at over 100k mikes.
All my trucks are well used for hauling and even pulling other people out of ditches etc. that were offloading. The trucks in my opinion are flat out work horses. The one that got T-bones at over 100,000 miles on it. The other two, one had close to 200 the other one over 200,000 miles on it. Hence the reason I now have my 4th one. Any upgrades I do are mostly for my own liking or Comfort. If you feel like you want to do a little something something or maybe add a little bling go ahead and do it. But don’t fear the build of the truck in my humble opinion.

I like the change holder for going through fast food drive throughs! I like to pay cash for those places and the holder allows me to give them exact change.

I have bed rack and rtt without bed stiffeners and I'm confident I'll be just fine... Plus taco already has plenty of tie down points already..

True, thought the TTC bed stiffeners do give you horizontal mounting points for an antenna or a whip etc

Bilstein 6112 front / 5100 rear (extended) shocks, Headstrong AAL, Firestone airbags, 4.88 gears, OME Carrier bearing drop kit, Aluminum 1/4" skids (engine to transfer). Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Cat shields by CaliRaised. Husky liners, window tint, heated seat (passenger only.) Relentless bed rail brackets with QuickFists (shovel/axe/fire extinguisher.) Hondo Garage Un-holey vent mount. Anytime rear with front facing camera. Billet front seat risers. Viair 88p. 265/75r16 Goodyear Ultra-terrain tires.
Hard to tell exactly with the perspective of the photo but it appears the drawer will only contact ~3/16" or so of the stiffener?

I'd take a grinder to the stiffener to clear out the corner needed for the drawer. Then hit it with rattle can paint.
