Two Taco friends of mine have had bed damage from large racks and root top tents. They've had the typical rear bedside issues, and additionally had damage to the front bed corners.

I built these for the grey taco after seeing the carnage, and there has been no additional damage to the front bed corners.

I built this one for another friend to go with his bed rack

Recently I designed and built these with the same goal in mind, but to also look good, and offer a few additional features like a cup holder, antenna mount, and additional tie down points, and the ability to pretension the bed, or help pull it back into alignment if needed.

Those are sweet build mods fella's.. I was hoping that I wouldn't have a bed problem. None yet with bed rack, rtt and sleeping with O lady and kiddos, but now I'm nervous.. I wheel/two track trail ride no rocks where I live sand and snow

    Are bed stiffeners required?

Required? I can't answer that for you. I can tell you that of both the pictured trucks above, neither would I consider a hardcore offroader. Both great guys with bed racks, rooftop tents and a desire to explore dirt roads here in Utah.

Is that the front corners on both? I’m just trying to build some info here.

The reason we made our Bed Stiffeners was because the issues we had in some of our personal and shop vehicles and saw a need. Since we were reinforcing the bed we also saw an opportunity to add some other features, specifically the multiple tie down points and antenna/whip mount.

Obviously Bed Stiffeners aren't required as we have seen plenty of rigs not running them and so far are just fine. It's just an accessory that some people may need, others may want, and others will go without. Like so many of our other parts we tried to make our Bed Stiffeners an investment for your vehicle. A part that for under $200 will last the lifetime and beyond of the vehicle and possibly prevent a day wrecker like a bent/broken bed.

Made a thread about this a while back, the anecdotal evidence convinced me. Now i really like having the extra tie downs too. (Went with TC)

TC bed stiffeners get delivered Monday.

Possibly looking at ATH front corner tie ins or something comparable. Maybe even make something of my own. Although I’m not to worried. I’ve wheeled my truck hard with a 200 lb tent and a over softopper bed rack and have had zero issues to date.

No bed cap or anything so not concerned about my bed flexing. I am thinking about purchasing these solely for the additional utility/functionality of the extra tie down points. Too many times I have been left wishing there were more tie down points near the tailgate. It can be a PIA when I’m hauling coolers, air conditioning units, etc. and not having reliable tie downs near the tail gate. Cool product!

I run the chaos upper A arms and they are solidly built. So I’d expect the same out of the bed stiffeners. Keep it up fellas.

The grand irony.......is I ended up buying the Total Chaos bed stiffeners. I was bored one day and wanted to spend some money. They are very nice and I enjoy attaching bungee cords to them.

    I take it all back.
