He didn't modify mine and they worked with JBAs just fine.

 

I have the jba with these and the thread engagement is questionable. It works but it’s close for comfort. I’ve done a few sets of these for local peeps and do a similar little cut out like above

 

It's all the way for me engaging the nylok so I'm good, maybe because I sans the washer that's supposed to go on top in between the boot and spindle that the new ones don't have.

 

The lack of washer is probably why. My nut is juuuuust before the nylock engages.

Can they be used on a 3rd gen tacoma?

I do have gusseted spindles in stock. I just haven’t been bumping my thread because I’ve been so busy in the shop with other projects, but I do have spindles ready to go

@glorifiedwelder can you do these without the sway bar retention for 3rd gens?

 

The ones that don’t retain the swaybar are inherently weaker by design and there are many reports of them cracking. The swaybar ones offered are way stronger and no reports of cracks. I’d go that route.

 

Thanks, I figured it would have been the other way around. But this is good to know, new tires coming soon and i have to due this upgrade soon.

 

The gusset with swaybar "mount" is for sure stronger, most of us here in CO just don't run the actual swaybar rod to gain more articulation.

 

Also, you can run a bolt through the hole with a nut on the back if it eases your mind. Filling in the void certainly reduces the chance of that being a weak point even with the gussets.
