Ya, I would do very short burns to limit that.

THe only thing I'm not sold on those about is that stock tabs are going to potentially bend a little if they're not exactly pressed against the inside of the gusset and you will probably cook your bushings if you do any considerable amount of welding on those other than just some tiny stitches.

That's true. I just did new LCA bushings and cam bolt hardware, so I would hate to take it all apart again, but also don't want to cook them. My cam tabs aren't too bent out of shape which is why I thought it might be a good option.

I also don't see why you couldn't weld the outside of the tab to the gusset. They don't show it in the instructions, but I don't see how that would be an issue. The marlin ones with their install instructions seem to let the tabs bend until the point where they hit the gussets, unless they fit a lot more tightly than I'm seeing.

True if you just hit the space between the tabs and the gusset with some light tacks you could grind it down and make it flush.

I got some KPOffroad gussets and kind of made my own Marlin style ones without knowing they’d be coming out with them six months later. By the time you prep the whole area you plan on welding, popping off the cam tabs isn’t all that much more work - the rears come off with a couple welds ground down and the fronts are easy from the front and eh from the back.

I think the best of both worlds would be what I made, but laser cut and ready to go.

Put a tack weld on the back of the tab. Hit with an air gun to cool it off. Repeat. You wont roast your bushings that way. Did it with a buddies, who was worried after he saw all i had to do for flattened ones. His bushings were fine.
