I’m running the oem steel wheels. A full spares set. The offset is terrible I’m running a 1.25” spacer and 255/85/16 (skinnies). About to buy 285/75/16 and will most likely have issues with these wheels. We’ll see.

Re-uploaded the pic of welds. Doing it off my phone gave it a weird format.

For you first gen guys, are you replacing the wheel bearing after welding the spindles on? I'm going to be welding a set onto a friends first gen and I wasn't sure if the heat from welding would cook away the grease.

edit: Doing a little reading and watching Timmah's video on it, it seems to be common practice to just leave the bearings in place and be mindful of how much heat you're pumping into the spindle.

Did mine recently. Didn't weld is solid. Stitched both side back and forth and added a bracket to tie it in at the caliper

I am getting ready to weld these on and have pressed new OEM UBA's into my spindles. I am worried about how easily I will be able to press in and out new OEM ball joints in the future. Also, are people welding this on with MIG? I have access to doing MIG and ARC myself. I feel like TIG would do well but I don't have access to one. I would perfer to MIG.
    Thank you!

I was reading through the thread and cringing a bit that no one was using a flap disc to prep their welds. You definitely want a grinder, Home Depot sells cheap Ryobis but if you have the money get a decent one. Prep the spindle with a flap disc, remove all paint down to bare metal for good weld penetration. Remove the spindle from the truck for sure. Or like this guy said get someone to help. Welding is an art, be patient, spend some time on setup, and use proper tools.
