Our Stock Length LCA's work great with extended travel coil over shocks! Running TOTAL CHAOS UCA's, TOTAL CHAOS LCA's, and Extended Travel Coil Overs will give an average of 1" additional wheel travel.

Great thread, lots of useful info, it answered most of my questions. Just one question left: Is your standard length race series single shock LCA compatible with Icon delta joint billet aluminum UCA running TRD Pro factory OEM Fox shocks? Thanks!

Our LCA will work with other Upper Control Arms. Unfortunately, the TRD Pro shocks have a bushing lower rod end that could contact the arm. We haven't tested these specific shocks to confirm, but this has been the case with other shocks with bushing rod ends. It's something we are keeping in mind as we improve our products.

Cool thanks for the info...I took a look at the lower end of my Fox Pro shocks vs. the old factory OEM Bilsteins & I did notice the difference in dimensions and bushing. So if I’m reading your response correctly your LCAs have not been tested specifically w Toyota’s factory OEM Pro Fox shocks but just with other smiliarly designed shocks from other manufacturers that have bushing lower rod end.
My thought is if the Toyota factory LCA will accommodate both Bilsteins & Fox with bushing lower rod end then I can logically conclude your TC LCAs must be uniquely designed with proprietary fitment that somehow may or may not be compatible w Fox due to possible contact with arm.
This may delay my decision for my next mod but not really a big deal.

I think most 2.5/3.0 aftermarket shocks have a bearing lower rod end not bushing.

    The issue is clearance.

They will bolt up and on the road will probably be just fine. However when you look at the stock LCA you can see there is a bucket where the shock mounts up. On the TC LCA its flat under the shock.
There is a chance that the deflection of the bushing could be enough that the bottom of the shock rod end could make contact with the top of the TC LCA. This may or may not cause any damage.
TC has seen this happen with other shocks with bushing rod ends so they cover themselves buy saying DONT DO IT with ANY shocks that use bushing lower rod ends..

Got it thanks, I can totally see that now, appreciate the thorough explanation. Wish I knew how much actual deflection or “free play” under full compression the Fox shocks bushing will have vs. the amount of actual free space there is between the shock and the TC LCA. From a layman’s perspective an easy fix to this potential problem would be to machine out a small divot to create a bit more space but that may compromise the integrity of the LCA and void the warranty...another fix maybe to raise the shock mount a little but that could open up another can of worms with body geometry and travel issues.

I’m gonna drink a few beers then pass a few different gauge wires underneath the shock to see if I can figure out just how much space there is between the factory LCA & the Fox shocks.

Is it normal for steering to be tight/heavy at first with the stock length race series lca's? I also noticed it lowered my front end a little bit after installation? Account is old and this is for my 2017 trd off-road Tacoma with total chaos uca and lca paired with king 2.5 extended travel coilovers. @TOTAL CHAOS

It is normal for the steering to tighten up a little after installing our Lower Control Arms. The overall feel will change with the polyurethane bushings compared to the rubber that comes factory. The overall ride height shouldn't be lowered. Do you have a print out of the alignment sheet? I'd recommend double checking everything is exactly where it needs to be. We are happy to take a look at the numbers

    Hi,

Just checking to see if you have the alignment numbers.

The steering not returning to center can sometimes happen when the uniballs are brand new. Occasionally we will have a customer that experiences this and it goes away after a few thousand miles

Another thing that might be causing this is low caster. If you aren't running enough caster it can cause a similar issue with the steering.
We are happy to take a look at everything for you

We don't have any updates at this time. It was being discussed but got put on the back burner. I'm exactly sure when we will revisit.
    Sorry about that!

What system do you have from us?

Is it a +2" kit or +3.5" Kit? Standard or Race Series?

Please let me know if there is a specific LCA bolt you are referring to (shock, uniball cup, frame mounts, etc)

Are the stock race kit cam bolts also 135 ft/lbs? Also, is it common to need to replace cam bolts when swapping out LCA’s? What’s the best way to grind off steering stops, will an angle grinder suffice?
