Can't find any superlube in my area. What other grease can I use on my TC uca's. Closest I can find is Mobil 1 synthetic. Or should I just order some superlube.

I used white lithium marine grease on mine and I don't have any squeaks.

Your talking about the inners right? You DO NOT want grease on the uniballs

I took a dab of grease on my finger and put a very light coat on the inside of the uniballs before I put the sleeves in. Should I not have? Curious why not?

I was originally talking about the bushings and the fittings on the UCA

I have read thru pretty much this entire thread...

What tool, besides the one available for sale from TC, has anyone used to replace the spindle slugs on a 1st Gen??

The tool from TC seems so simple that perhaps you can use a socket?

    Any advice?

I have Camburg LT but the slug in the spindle is the same concept. I rented a ball joint press and it wouldnt work so I ended up using a vice and a hammer.

Set the vice so it is just wide enough to hold the spindle lips and let the ball joint fit through. I didnt care about ruining the ball joint and just hammered it out. Then flip the spindle over and do the reverse on the uniball adapter. You will be hitting the bottom of the adapter on the flat part so as long as you hit square it wont hurt anything. Have a 2nd person watch that the vice is not interfering and the slug is going in straight while you give it firm taps

Alright. Doing things a little backwards but I have my reasons. Just installed my TC uca's first instead of lift. Went fairly smooth thanks to this thread. Without it I would have been lost. Took me about 4 hrs taking my time. Got it aligned cuz it will be a while until I save up for my lift. I'm amazed at how flimsy the stock uca's are. Seems to be steering good just a little stiffer.

Ive been running Mobil 1 in mine for over 30k and noticed little to no wear of the bushings when I took them apart for their last inspection.

Why not? I use Wheelers Triflow lube and it keeps dirt out.

The chrome uniballs TC supplies absolutely suck in any region that see's snow/salt. My balls lasted all of 9 months. Now I use Trilube on my new FK stainless steel balls and they have lasted much longer already.

TC UCA's are very overrated IMO

Because a uniball has an internal teflon liner. All the lube is doing is attracting dirt unless it is a dry lube. I was saying dont use the mobil 1 on the uniballs. I use Mobil one on my inner rubber bushings too

You need to check out the tri lube. It forms a protective barrier keeping dirt and grime out. For you guys who play in the dry sand I would assume dry lube is great. For us Northeast guys who play in the snow and mud on a regular basis dry lube is worthless.

Ummm the wheeler tri flow lube says "superior dry lubricant". That is what I use but from Dupont. You keep re-saying the same thing I am saying. Once again my original point was do not use Mobile 1 on uniballs

Here is it installed on my uniballs

It's anything but dry when installed and nothing like Dupont's dry teflon spray. It does harden to a waxy consistency that blocks the crap from getting into the liner from the top down totally unlike the Dupont spray

I'm not full of BS or arguing with you. My issues with dry spray and chrome balls has been well documented by others in my region as well as myself http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/su...el-uni-ball-tc-uca-05-tacoma.html#post2804791

Anyone know the dimensions of the UCA bolts on 1st and 2nd gens??

I know the parts# but I gotta order some sleeves for my custom fabbed uca's and need to figure out what I.D. I need for the sleeves.

Any difference between the 1st and 2nd gen?? As I already have some sleeves that are too short for mine that I am looking to sell.

    Are you running 1" balls?

I can get you bolt dimensions off my old worn down bolts from my 08', but IMO you need to call TC and get the facts from them.

    I am running 1" uniballs...

But, I am talking the long bolt that goes thru the bushings.

^Send a PM to MJP2. I know he had to have a custom bolt made that was longer, his is a 2nd gen but I believe they are the same diameter bolt

ahh...the OE UCA mounting bolt. Yea I was talking about the UCA/spindle bolt.

If it helps the ID of a 2nd gen UCA bushing sleeve is .5825" per my POS Harbor freight digital caliper
