Do you need to support the spinle/ lower control arm with a jack while doing this?

Squint0241 and I tired it both ways on our trucks. I have the TC UCAs, and he has the ICON tubulars. Did it according to the video, and it still squeaked eventually. I figure that the grease will work its way into the dry areas and lube it enough to where it'll pivot and then you get squeaks. So now I just pump in more grease whenever the squeaking is unbearable.

Yeah. You want to make sure the cable going to the speed sensor doesn't get tension on it. Otherwise, it can break the speed sensor, and you will get an ABS light.

Youre best off removing, and rubbing grease all over the bushings. That's the only way to remove the squeaks.

yes, but in my experience it will start to squeak again eventually. I greased the crap out of them when I first installed them new, then went to the pumping fresh grease every few months routine. then Rick came across the same TC install vid, so we pulled them apart and cleaned off all the grease, installed per video, and within a few weeks squeaked like crazy. So I pulled them apart, packed them with grease, reassembled, and again in a few months, squeaking. I know polyurethane bushings squeak, and I don't really mind it. But superlube is expensive :D

This is interesting. Every set I have installed, have never squeaked. My own haven't sqeaked for 6 years, only greasing them once a year.

How big of a lift did you have on your Tacoma before you installed your new UCA's?

Ive had good luck with Mobil 1, but any quality grease should be fine.

I just received my total chaos uca's today. Haven't installed them yet but wondering who else in here has greased the inside and outside of the bushings. Looks like Chris has over 104,000 posts and knows what he's talking about, no offense but once I install them, I don't want to have to mess with them again. I don't see what it could hurt but what do I know, I only have 3 posts. lol

Sounds good. I'm gonna grease the outside too and use Mobil 1. I love that stuff. That's all I run in my taco. Mobil 1 Synthetic. Maybe the Tri flow is part of the problem. Who knows. Thanks

The guys at Total Chaos recommend using "Super Lube" because of the PTFE additive.

I know they do, but they also say Polyurethane bushings can and will make some noise per there instructions. In there install video the guy states to use some sort of grease, "we use superlube". They don't say you have to use superlube. Maybe superlube isn't the best choice. They make more money when people mess up their bushings trying to stop the squeaking by over lubing and have to buy more. Not considering taking their truck back apart for annoying and embarrassing noises coming from them. I'm staying away from it and using mobile 1 synthetic. I can get my hands on superlube for free. I've read a bunch of people having issues with them squeaking. Wonder if they all used this suberlube.

Super Lube is what Total Chaos uses in their personal vehicles, and race trucks and they have found it's what works best for them, but you can certainly use what ever you want. They also use Tri-Flow in their uniballs which also has PTFE (also known as teflon) and the uniballs they use have a woven liner impregnated with PTFE so I think that says something for it.

Installed my TC UCA's and coilovers. Here are a few pics. When tapping out the bolts with an socket extension on the pass side, I had to use one that was longer than the standard size. If not, you'll be hammering all day, lol. And putting 2 together won't work as the fatter part is too large to go in the bolt hole.

I covered up the sheetmetal I had to bend on the passenger side with gorilla tape. I cleaned the surfaces with alcohol first so it would stay put. Gave it a cleaner look. Drivers side is all covered with apron.

So no lube is needed on the uniballs that go into the cup, correct?

    Hi guys.

I am getting ready to order the TC UCAs for a standard MT setup. I am just wondering if the heim joint option be used without a drop bracket. The heim joints seem superior to the poly bushings but I just don't know if they can be made to work on the stock mounts.

    TIA

Does anyone have any tricks for getting the zerks fittings in safely/easily, without breaking them?
