I was wondering when you guys install the UCA’s did you put the through bolt in the same direction Toyota installed it? Or installed the bolt from the bottom up? Also did it loosen the through bolt as you drove it?

Attached is the driver side UCA that is loose. Each side it’s about 1/8” gap. I know I can tighten it but I wasn’t aware I’d have to tighten every 3,000 miles.

Went through the way it was installed as if the nut came off the bolt won't disappear.

Are you torqued to proper spec?

I put mine through backwards. I’ve checked it every oil change but never needed to tighten it.

Yeah I torqued them to spec.

I put the driver side in the way it came out and the passenger in backwards. I periodically check them and they have never changed. I periodically go through my truck before and after trips to check all the changes I have made just to avoid trail mishaps. But I go through a lot of locktite when I upgrade my vehicle.

I reversed mine and applied torque marker to the nuts and bolts. It hasn't come loose yet.

Thanks! I was thinking it could be the reason they are squeaking. I was about to disassemble them.

No, it doesn’t squeak, although I give them a few pumps of grease and dry lube on the uniball.

Mine looked the same and had play

Bushings were shot and I had to install new ones.

I would NOT be driving around with it like that

Good point. OP how many miles on yours since the install? If you have that much play, and it’s torqued to spec, might be time for a rebuild.

Can’t be that much if you have a 2017...

Mine squeak a bit. I probably need to grease them. I really want to find or make some kind of cap for the spherical bearing though.

Makes me think the bolt is just super loose since he has a 2017. Mine were many years old.

I’ve only had them on for 7,000 miles and they have never stopped squeaking.

I’ve regressed them at least 6 times in 7,000 miles. I went through a whole tube of super lube already.

My TC UCA's are the least favorite mod on my truck. Loud as hell, but at least I got a year out of them before they started making noise.

Did you grease them properly ?

Loosen the bolt grease and then tighten ?

If not you have ruined the bushings and need new ones.

I love the way mine look, and they don’t make any noise... but if I were to do it again I’d buy JBA air SPC. I just don’t NEED these.
