Hey Taco fam.... Anyone in the Orange County area have any experience installing uni-balls? A few weeks back I started to get a really bad clunking noise from the front passenger side of the truck. Turns out the uni-ball needs to be replaced on the lower control arm. I ordered through @TOTAL CHAOS , but have no experience installing one.

Same applies to the lca. Might want to check out to see if you have an issue if your stuff is only a year old. Should get a good 3 years out of a uniball.

Around 4 minute mark show how to press out a uniball.

I've read through some of the other posts, looks like most people tighten the bolt a bit more and it takes care of the issue. Had everything re-torqued a week ago and I'm still hearing it. I double check before replacing.

    Thanks bud.

Definitely check the torque on the bolt. They will work their way loose every once in a while. That’s one of the main reasons I throw in a free re-torque @500 miles on installs I do.

I'll pick up a torque wrench and give it another shot this weekend. Appreciate it.

No problem. You’re setup is pretty new I’d definitely check torque before replacing anything

Yeah, not too old. When you did the Archive Garage install for me, the suspension was only a few months old, at most.

Yeah that’s I was basing it on. Have you jacked the truck up from that control arm and tried to see if the wheel has any play in it?

Yep, isolated the noise to that corner, jacked that corner up, and then put a pry bar under the tire and saw it moving/clunking

That doesn't sound right at all. Are you sure it was the uniball? This is what a bad uniball looks like.

That was a waste. Replaced it, no noise for a while, then at full lock left made a loud ass clunking noise.

Anything specific I should look for. I’ll do that now.

At full lock the actual coil sometimes reseats itself. May have been what you heard clunk. Or the steering stop on the spindle moving against the stop pad on the lca. If you can get a video, or audio file of the clunk when it happens that’ll go a long way towards figuring out what it could be. Good luck, hope you find it.

Just torqued to 100, can’t drive it yet because I’m blocked in for a family bbq, but I posted the sound as well.

    Sorry about the issue!

We know you're in touch with the shop, but thought we could help here. Just have a couple of questions. Could you post up some photos of your setup? We'd like to see multiple shots of the front suspension. Include different angles showing all of the components.

How long have you had the kit? What kind of use is the vehicle seeing?

Happy to help get this resolved for you.
