    What haven’t I changed?
I have the TC gussets w/ sway bar and am running 255/85/16 tires on 16x8 wheels and 4" backspacing. I agree with @NYCO that you should play it safe and consider getting some wheel spacers. Better to have them and not need them than, well, you know..

    @Crom

Here are some pictures I just snapped of mine. Sorry about the engineers scale and the poor angle of the photos, I didn't have a normal tape and just my phone. I have about 1.5" from the edge of the tire to the gusset, slightly more to the edge of the wheel.

Since I have the same size tires as you and 3.5BS wheels vs the 4.5 BS you are looking at you would probably have about 1/2" of space. Getting close but doable in my opinion.

Using some calculators comparing to my set up I came up with
    Results
7mm MORE Inner Clearance:(the inside of the wheel to the strut housing)
31mm LESS Outer Position:(position of the outside edge of the wheel)

Tire width/sidewall bulge is my only concern with a narrow rim.

Appreciate all the help and feedback. I think I may end up doing the no-sway-bar gusset with extra tie rod gusseting.

No problem. The only place I could see you having issues is during articulation. I am not sure if that gap changes at all or how drastically it does change. If its not much you should be fine.

airing down you will see the bulge move down most likely too?

always been curious to see if it makes a difference airing down...

Yeah that is something I hadn't thought of. I would think most of the deformation would occur at the bottom where the tire is contacting the ground?

well yes, that's the most obvious area of change...but i wonder if the top, unweighted section changes at all with less pressure

No issues with running extremely low pressure on mine. Much tighter then the above. 619bc874406ee91149e90624b661f32f_074265c6af3276b688eb631f3186b73629d4529c.jpg

Used my key for scale. that's sitting on the wheel lip.

Thats about how I imagine @Crom would be with his setup. I have much more space with mine.

Very interesting! So you're saying that when airing down, the tire does indeed bulge a little bit at the top?

No...just saying zero rub marks on the spindle or inner tire and I've wheeled with single digit air pressures

    thats freaking close!!!

Just run the no swaybar gussets, truck will ride nicer without the swaybar anyways.

Okay. Thanks. That helps. Like Bob above, I've wondered if the top portion of the tire bulged (even if a little) when aired down. As far as I could tell it didn't but I've never got in there and measured like you. Appreciated!

I don't run a sway bar, won't fit...too short. LT problems :headbang: Sway bar gussets are just stronger. When I went to install I knew it would be tight so I had a spare set of ungusseted spindles on stand-by but it cleared. 25k miles on it like that.

i ran a 305/70/17 MTR on a 4.5" BS with the non-sway gussets for a while, aired up and down no issue...

    this was that setup..

got it. Makes sense as the swaybar gussets make a triangle of sorts out of the spindles.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Maybe I should start a new thread but I am wondering the same thing about the all-pro gussets. I have 265's on 17" FJ cruiser wheels and 285's on 16" 1st gen Tacoma wheels and wonder if they will clear without spacers.
