It did for sure! The back cam on the LCA is all the way to the right that’s what I was thinking. Maybe just alignment? Lol

I will post more pics when I see the truck again. Insurance told me let them handle it. The sway bar and spindle is very clearly bent.

Also I want to be clear. I would be very happy if the truck wasn’t a total loss there is Basically 0 body damage.

I was simply repeating Mr tow truck drivers story

If it happened to your 2021 Titan, then it would be totaled, but not a 3rd gen Tacoma.

You need the following in order. You can do this all yourself if you can source the oem parts used and install them yourself. This would equal your deductible but you will NOT have this against your insurance history. Don't think just the deductible cost, but the overall cost in the future as it will be your fault.

If you choose to go through insurance, make sure you pick the shop and that they agree to use OEM Toyota parts. Replace the rim as well, since it does have a nick in it as you're paying for it.

    1. Spindle ($150-$200 used)
    2. Upper Control Arm ($50)
    3. Alignment ($65)
    4. Repaint Fender Flare ($175-$250)
    5. Lower Control Arm (?) You might not even need it and I doubt you will.
    6. Touch up paint for your rim ($5)

Thankyou, I was so close to not
Involving insurance… but I just want to be sure. Everything here I could replace with friends.. I do believe the sway arm is bent so I would have to remove
    And replace or
Leave it removed. Now I am second guessing calling insurance.
    Hopefully it works out

Look and see if the LCA cam tab flattened out. If so that would be frame damage, and I don't think Toyota sells new cam tabs. Though many aftermarket companies sell new weld on cam tabs.

how fast were you going that you are glad your family is okay..? also an incident like that could occur on a rocky normal 4wheel drive outing. in which you would have to drive the vehicle out/ could not call a tow truck... didn't realize Hawaiian parking lots were so dangerous

I was going 5 mph and the pole didn’t hit any plastic or bumpers. It was a straight hit to the tire. My wife is 8 months pregnant and we had our two year old with us. The jolt from hitting this pole at 5mph straight to the tire was significant enough.

I was going to say. Drive it straight to the salvage yard, it's totaled. Maybe salvage will offer 800 bucks for the truck.

    800 isn't bad for a salvage vehicle, but this is a a 2017 Tacoma, that's driveable!

Definitely not totaled. You can literally bend the frame and it wont be totaled

possibly. I have been accident free my whole driving life. With my insurance company for 10 years. Hopefully I’ll get a break.

Sometimes the poles rise up out of the ground, but you most likely shouldn't be driving where that could occur.

I hate moving trees worse. The only people who can tell you for sure if it’s totaled or not is the insurance company. The rest is just hearsay. In my unprofessional internet armchair quarterback opinion, it’s not totaled. I always say, if goes above your deductible, have the insurance fix it. Been in several situations where my insurance paid for stuff and have never had a deductible increase because of it. And they were my fault. Just do don’t a bunch of repairs back to back to back and your insurance shouldn’t change much if at all. YMMV.

look under the truck where the control arms connect to the frame. is the frame bent? if so, it may be totaled.

Most insurance companies raise your rates after you second claim. That is what my insurance company does. So hopefully you will be fine on your rates.
