Got rear ended / side swiped this weekend. I was stopped and she hit me going 55mph. The rear axle is bent, rear door won't open, there is an impression where the bed hit the cab, fiberglass bed is cracked, etc...
    2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road

Just wondering what to expect. Accident happened in Missouri, I live in New Mexico, both states use the total loss formula.

    Thanks

    (UPDATE)
Insurance declared this a total loss. $24,000 in damages. Frame would have had to be completely replaced.

Without seeing the truck I voted yes. Sounds like it's folding tail to nose.

Oh man, did the airbags go off? Take your shell off if its intact, unless you are fully covered for replacement on it.

You'd better hope that's totaled, you definitely don't want that back.

Not enough info. Did the airbags go off? Is the frame bent? The issue is its a new vehicle, so IMHO the insurance co will spend 15-18k before totaling it.

Wow that had to hurt. Glad everyone is ok. Looks like she tried to miss a head on impact and turned at last second... was she texting??

I see people every day texting while driving... the drive like they are drunk. It's insane.

Aw hell, that'll buff right out. Seriously though...It looks like the major damage is to the bed. A new bed will be cheaper than a total right-off so they might decide to go that route. If the frame is bent that'll change things though. I had major body damage to a 2016 Camry that I was really wishing they'd total. They elected to fix it even though it needed a new engine as well. The total bill was around $12,000. I wasn't happy with the repairs and traded it in on the Tacoma so it worked out okay.
