Looks fixable to me. Usually air bag deployment/ frame damage is an automatic write off but I think you got a shot here. Good luck

I've never understood what insurance companies are on about. I've had my insurance company pay out 8K in repairs on a car I would have taken a 6K payout on. I've also had them suggest totaling a 15 to 20K car over what was essentially a severe door ding (vandalism).

I've had adjusters ask me how I want them to write it up to give me the option if I want it totaled or not....when it's kind of a judgement call. The time to do that is when they are looking at the car and writing it up, because after it's on paper they likely have a lot less leeway.

As someone pointed out earlier, some cars have a lot of value just as parts. When my kid's MazdaSpeed 3 was damaged, the car had tremendous value as a parts car, because a lot of the parts were Speed3 specific and in high demand. That pushed them towards wanting to total it.

Not totaled. She doesn't have a complete estimate yet, but the owner of the body shop is quite confident that it's not totaled and he may have it fixed before the end of the year.

Make sure to have them replace the doors as a whole. It will save on labor as it’s just prep paint and swap over door components.

My guess was way off. $6100 is the estimate from the repair shop.

Body shops are notorious for giving lowball estimates and then later adding 25% more repair cost's,they tear into the truck and they find this bad that bad, etc.

If the truck is paid for , make sure the insurance check is written out to your niece and she pays the body shop directly and they don’t get paid until she signs off it’s all doe correctly.
