Time for a new box and fiberglass, just need to throw down some extra cash for some long travel and you're set

In all seriousness I think if your frame is relatively unscathed I don't see it being totaled. But then again I'm not an insurance adjuster. Good luck op.

Appreciate everyone feedback. Truck was tow today. Should know a in few days what will be decided.

Question: Let's say it's determined it's totaled and I buy it back. Salvage title: My title is Hawaii, registration/plates is Guam, currently living in CA. Who has jurisdiction on issuing the Salvage title?

One of my college buddies had his car totaled by a police car on an emergency call. Yes he was pulling over as required - police car was out of control and sliding. Officers made a special trip to the hospital to give Tim a ticket for " failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle". Must have been required to get the cop off the hook internally. Because many saw this incident and were willing to be witnesses - he went to court to fight the ticket. The city attorney sent underlings 3 times at 90 day intervals to ask for a "continuance" - and it was always granted............ I guess the last one was permanent - they finally dropped the charges. But no possible settlement for the loss of his vehicle - according to the only "official" report - which was short and sweet and had no supporting information - it was all Tim's fault, no witnesses.

Well.... check underneight the frame - if anything has moved, you'll see it at the welds/ mounting points. Body shops have special measuring tools to check spec and of course, there is a range of variances thats acceptable.

For those of us in the body world - mind if you post the estimate from your adjustor or bodyshop - of course, please redact your personal info...

From what I see, it doesn't really look like a loss unless your frame is damaged. Bedsides, Tailgate, Rear bumper and its auxiliary components, Fender Flare, Mud Flap, Wheel liner, LH Taillight housing are the obvious damage. I'm wondering if the composite bed is cracked and if there are any electronics or wire harness that's compromised. Now, if the frame is damaged, it would be due to the axle moving forward... BUT from what I see, it doesn't look like the case....

And if you get that totalled - you'll probably get around 24K out of that... being a 4x4...

I have an 06 that sustained over $12,000 damage with 130K on it, and it wasn't totaled...even though the air bag went off...

Go do an alignment and you can find out if the frame is bent. I'd say fix and keep if straight.

Will Hawaii DMV allow you to "reconstruct/salvage/[whatever their term is]" title a vehicle remotely? It's not like you can conveniently motor on down to Hawaii or Guam in the truck to do this in person. If you can't do it remotely, you're stuck with Cali DMV (and for that I'm truly sorry).

Here in Cali, resurrecting a "salvage" title includes a smog inspection, and brake & lamp certification. If coming from out of state, a vehicle/VIN inspection by the CHP also, at their inspection station. Been there, done that, with vehicles I've brought in from Oregon.

If you live here now, you're supposed to get your Cali driver's license within 10 days of arrival, and transfer your plates/registration to Cali within 20 days. There's even a CHP website devoted to snitching on people now who live here and abuse the 'out of state' reg/license bullsh!t. I think military is the only exemption to that, but I could be wrong on all counts.

Best to call the Hawaii DMV and ask them what to do, *if* your truck is totaled. Just my $0.02

Where is your primary residence. If you have a CA drivers license... the above applies. Gotta get that stuff registered in CA ASAP (unless military)

LOL that website..... I honestly cant blame people for registering their vehicles out of state.... CA reg fees are INSANE and just keep going up and up.

That stated, I aint about to play that game, all my shit is current and registered in CA as it should be.
