Yup its a two way street for sure.

That stated, CA is a crazy corrupt govt.... the Transportation Improvement Fee (TIF for short) that was included on vehicle registrations a few years ago based on vehicle value added anywhere from 25-175$ on top of the actual registration. This used to be a line item on your registration. Now the same fee is just part of the registration with no indicator of how much you are actually paying. Its BS. I almost put all by one of my motorcycles on non-op this year.

10 and 20 days huh? You can’t even get an appointment at the DMV within that kind of time frame there. Maybe some places in far far NorCal...
I can’t believe that snitch website bullshit! Do people get paid to snitch? Discount on next years registration or what’s the incentive? Or are people such fucktards down there now to take time out of their day to do it gratis??

Regarding the “city employees can fuck your shit up no consequence “ bullshit I’m not saying this doesn’t happen but only if you’re stupid and or resource-less enough to let it happen. I just got paid by the city of Seattle for bending a rim and blowing a tire on my BMW because a dumb manhole was sticking out too far.

I know right?! And LOL, good luck getting an appointment at any DMV in this state within 4 weeks right now. The push for everyone to get their "Real ID" is clusterfucking them all. But yeah, 10 and 20 days. I don't make these stupid rules, I just gotta abide by them while I'm here.

TBH, I didn't even know about the snitch website until today. Figuratively stumbled across it looking up registration related info. I'm not surprised though, this state used to have billboards up all over the place a few years back, asking people to snitch out fellow motorists whose vehicles smoked too much or looked un-roadworthy. I doubt the state does anything more for the reporters than thank them for their time. You've seen the weird neighbors thread right? Some of these people live for this shit.

People who choose to live in certain states, should follow that state's laws. As mentioned below, those who circumvent fees and not paying their fair share, just increases fees for everyone else, and that's the incentive for the cheaters webpage.

I can appreciate the sentiment but that’s unfortunately not how it works... Insurance companies and government agencies will hike their prices just the same. Because they can.

If the frame isn’t bent the truck shouldn’t be totaled. My 2012 was slammed in the rear last year. Complete new rear end. Luckily my frame was untouched.

Update: Insurance did not total the truck. Preliminary damage is about 4K. No damage to the frame.

Found a body shop that will also repaint the entire truck. Clear coat is peeling all over the truck. Going with destroyer grey. Love the cement grey color but, wanted something a little darker.

Small kine late update: Shop ended up charging about 6K for the repairs. Insurance is going after the hit and run driver to collect. Shop painted my truck for a decent paint after talking her down. Decent paint job and came with a warranty. Color: Destroyer grey.

Ha, I just paid $147 for a street legal golf cart.

On a side note, the "Smog Abatement Fee" is the one that cracks me up. Pay a fee because your vehicle is so new it doesn't require a smog check... maaaaakes sense. I also love how they use the word "abatement" which means the act or process of reducing or otherwise abating something. So you are reducing something by adding a fee?
