They will probably repair it and if it was mine, I would be trading it the same afternoon it came out of the body shop.

Collision shop estimated the repairs to be ~34K. Insurance decided to repair the car.

wow, surprising that they are fixing it with a repair cost of about 75%.

    What are you thoughts?

Wow. That seems very high for what's visible. Did you get a copy of the estimate?

its probably because of how insane car prices are right now.

Cost seems high, but if frame isn't bent and from the looks of it, it most likely isn't, then the repairs will be suspension and body. Make sure they replace panels for that price, not repair the fender like they are likely to do. The other place you may have damage that may not become apparent immediately is engine, drivetrain and trans, so keep an eye on how it runs once returned.

At that cost, I wish they would just total it. However, it’s totally not up to me unfortunately.

If you want it totaled i would complain to a manager. That is the craziest thing I have heard as an adjuster. Your truck has massive salvage value. Let’s say they put the ACV at 50k. That truck has to have at least 10-12k in salvage. That is way to close to fix. I would as to speak to the auto damage supervisor or manager and ask if they looked at constructing this as a total.

Did they give you and ACV for the truck?

Can you decline? You went from having a near mint 2020 to an almost fully rebuilt.

Actually asked my insurance claims adjuster this (pending response). Somewhat trying to dispute it, but I doubt there is much I can do.

If you cannot come to an agreement with the adjuster, get his report in writing and contact your state insurance department. They are often able to help you get the outcome you want when the repair/total determination is so close.

There is a lot you can do. Start with getting the ACV of your vehicle and ask if they ran the salvage value. I would start there. Unless you have the numbers and have discussed it with a supervisor you will not get anywhere with DOI or anyone else.

I had the exact same spot hit on an old frontier pickup, right at that front tire but mine was bent in slightly more than yours

Mine was considered totaled, I guess bc the frame was bent

Thanks for the advice peeps. Got the car totaled based on the Total Loss Formula (TLF). WA state doesn’t do loss percentages.
