After 7 years of ownership I feel pretty good about owning a 2nd Gen. I could be wrong but 60K miles (Edit - 136K miles Dec 2020) and no issues on my truck. Of course I just jinxed myself, see you at the dealership getting something repaired !!

I would just keep an eye on the frame rust and use an undercoating like Fluid Film. I hope my frame lasts as long as my previous Nissan King Cab 4X4, because if it doesn't I don't see myself buying another Tacoma.

Its bad to say but I have an old subaru that I drive in the winter when its really crappy out, mainly cause of the gravel they put on the roads around here, I wasn't concerned about rust. So far everything is looking good.

Yes it's wrong to be happy with your truck and you need 10+ years in therapy to fix it.

I would do that if I could, but when you buy a Tacoma, we shouldn't worry about frame failure so soon.

I started driving the continental divide route backroads starting in Banff and made it to Whitefish. I want to make it to Mexico in my 2013 TRD ! next year finish Montana, Colorado and see when my wife starts saying its time to head home.

I am very happy with my truck. I dont have any plans on selling it or trading to a newer generation Taco. Since I am in Florida, my frame will likely last for decades.

Funny you should say that, because I said to my neighbor "I wish there were a place I could visit my retired Nissan King Cab 4X4", what a well made truck and with great memories we have together too.

Just looked on Kijiji and guys are asking from 30k to 35k for TRds here in BC, 2013s with 60k to 80k kms. Not bad when you can drive your truck for a few years and only lose 5 to 10 grand. Thats like 26,000 USA dollars.

I was thinking of getting rid of my 2006 TRD Sport DCSB a couple years ago, then we had the worst winter eastern Massachusetts has ever seen, them last summer I got my frame, leaf springs, and steering rack replaced.

Truck is paid off, has a new frame, only has 123k miles on it, just ordered new wheels and tires and will be adding to my suspension soon, I plan on driving this thing until it falls apart again.

There are so many pretty cheap ways to upgrade these trucks that only lengthens their life, on my list next are weather tech floor liners and wet okoles.

I've got 30k on my 2014. I honestly want a diesel... but I have a 8 yr 100k warranty on this one, that Toyota gave me for free for having to replace my ECM the day after I bought it. I'd be nuts to get rid of it.

For sure I would be interested in the diesel motor Toyota is using in Australia.

I spent 3 months in South Africa. One of my coworkers over there had a Hilux D4D. Awesome truck with that little 3 L diesel.
