2015 Tacoma with only 50k miles has had its entertainment system touch screen fail. Can't set the time, change channels on the radio etc. This was an abrupt happening - no warning. Anyone else experiencing this and have any solutions?

I've heard that its not uncommon for those units to fail. Starts off with little things like that and then dead.

You have gotten about the average lifespan out of an OEM stereo. Usually, when something happens, it’s likely 1 of 2 causes. Either a ribbon cable break or a cold solder joint break. Not worth the time trying to fix. Neither is getting another OEM unit from the dealer, big $$. You could find a used one, but probably end up in the same situation in a year or two. The last option is www.Crutchfield.com . Enter year/make/model and select options you WANT, not what you should be satisfied with. Included are all the connectors you need to be up and running without hacking stuff up.

They sell replacement screens on Amazon for about $20. There are some youtube videos showing how to do it if you're handy. I did it on my daughter's Corolla last year and it wasn't too bad of a job.
They are available for our 2nd gens too.
I went this route after I saw the prices and availability of replacement units.

yup mine was causing some odd sound issues and went to the dealership to see if there was something they could investigate. they said they could order another replacement for $2000. i said forget that and went the aftermarket route. i think my only regret is not going with the higher end model of the Halo Series and went with the ILX259
