Just asking if anyone has real touchy brakes on their Tacoma. Just passed through 10K miles on my 2015 and it still is touchy- like a light switch on or off. Something you get used to but since I do switch vehicles, when i come back to it is always touchy.

Only fix I can come up with is a lift and bigger tires...

My 2015 DCLB 4x4 has no issues. Brakes work like I'd expect from any other vehicle. I'm at 4,700 miles.

Though I try to be light on the brakes so I don't wear out my front pads too fast. ;)

The Off Road has the Hydraulic Electronic Brake Booster instead of the traditional Vacuum Brake Booster.

There's a big thread on this somewhere.....

My 2013 Sport has light switch brakes. They're awesome once you get used to them (if you don't put yourself through the windshield first).

I have a TRD OR and everyone who drives it says the brakes are touchy.

    they are fine to me

but I know it is just they way the TRD OR brakes are. almost over boosted. panic stops
with or without a load in the back will be no problem on a Turd OR.

    normal

Grabbiest brakes I have ever dealt with. Drives me insane. Trying to do light braking at low speed is a nightmare and makes you look like a 15 yo learning to drive stick. If I was on my motorcycle and saw me driving my truck in a parking lot, I would turn and run the other direction.

I about snapped mine and the salesmans neck when I test drove as I was coming from a 3/4 ton diesel. It is nice once I get used to it, but man they sure do stop quick and it's a dclb sport

All my Toyota trucks have braked like that, and it is how a vehicle should brake IMO. Toyota did an excellent job engineering the brakes on their trucks, the brake response is like a German sports car. Once you get used to good brakes it isn't an issue. If you come from driving an American vehicle, you are likely used to horrific mushy brake pedals and lack of feedback and response in the pedal. Keep in mind, that the braking power also needs to stop the truck loaded to capacity and towing a trailer. Reserve braking power is a good thing.

Sounds like it is common. Makes sense that is electrically assisted, explains that light switch effect. Totally agree with the grabbiest brakes ever. Personal preference on what you expect from your vehicle interaction, I would prefer a little better finesse in my braking. Not bad when you drive it everyday it just me switching around so much.

FYI its ONLY 09+ TRD OR 4x4's that have the electric boosed master cylinder. You will see significantly higher line pressures with this system vs the vacuum boosted setup.

Mine seems to be very touchy right when I first crank it up in the morning or if it has been sitting for a couple of hours.

    Check out the build
I love sensitive brakes! I had really touchy brakes on my Honda Callenge car years ago.

My Tacoma is the complete opposite as yours. Even the with upgraded pads and rotors they are soft. I've tried everything to the point that even dealer techs ask how I got the petal so firm.

Oh well, the grass is always greener.
