Nah dude, you can go in and get snipped up. Rates depend on insurance or office rates. I've heard everything from $45-$450. But I wouldn't do it, yet. Wait until at least 35. You never know, your mindset may change. I did it last year after two kids. My wife was done and said "no more."

We've spent near $40k on our house in the six years since we owned it. Roof, AC, appliances, windows, doors, paint, 12x16 shop, hurricane repair, electrical. We could have this place half paid off if we'd put all that to the mortgage!

Yep. I remember Doc saying "alright, just gonna make a little poke..." and BLAM! Everything after goes in the PTSD file.

House. Constructed in 1960. It was a rental for 30+ years. Lots of bandaid fixes. Many components needed replacing. We knew this going in, and we got it for a steal at $78k. Straight shot to downtown. Spring and a creek on property. Good neighborhood schools. We're looking at a $40k addition in the next two years to add 1/3 more space and upstairs master suite.

Did it at thirty. Regretted not doing it at eighteen. If he knows, he knows. If not sure, definitely wait. Provide your own bc in the mean time though.

Go to a well practiced urologist (referred to mine as the dick doc). Its generally reversible, just expensive. Could also look into freezing, have no idea those costs though. Probably worth ensuring whatever doc you see will perform on someone your age over the phone, though. Fuck paying for an office visit to be told they won't do it.

Edit: someone your age with no kids already etc

In Georgia, they will strongly suggest you not do it, and they will not do the procedure without your wife/partner's written consent.

They strongly encourage having a serious talk with your spouse/Significant Other. Other points raised are your religious stance towards sterilization. It's not so much a religious thing as a personal interpretation of scriptures, but some (very few) of the more overzealous crowd frown on sterilization as it is deemed as removing the purpose of sex (procreation, in their eyes).

OP, in case you are still pondering this decision:

It took me 40 years to learn that the best advice has to do with how to make good decisions, not what decisions to make in specific situations. Many have said this already, but you need to trust your gut. As in multiple choice tests, your first instinct is often the best and can be ruined with too much precise thought. As far as loyalty to your current company and your feeling that you would be difficult to replace...well if you’re truly that good then you’re not being compensated fairly. Rather than you owing your employer your loyalty, your employer owes you salary and benefits worthy of your skills. If you believe in capitalism and the central role of the market, well I think the decision is made for you.

Back to decision making skills: think about what you want to be doing in the near, mid and long term and make your choice based on what positions you best for your goals. Keep in mind that your goals need to stay flexible but having some concrete long term goals is crucial to making your near term decisions easier. Try to work backwards but always be ready to take advantage of unexpected opportunities...

It’s ok to be selfish in some aspects. No one knows you like you do, and no one else will care as much about what you need to be happy as you will.

Lastly don’t make decisions out of fear or to avoid regret. Lay out the pros and cons, make the decision you think is best for you, and strike out on that road confidently.

    Best of luck to you!

"You've never lived until you have smelled your balls burning" - my doc as he was cauterizing me. He was hilarious. Cracking jokes the whole time.

Making the patient laugh during this procedure doesn't seem like a wise idea..

He said he has had better luck making the patient laugh and relax during the procedure. When he is serious and the patient gets tense and stressed out, he said things tend to want to shrink inwards and makes for a much more difficult time.
