Tourque converter lockup solenoid code

The early units locked up in 4th gear only . The later units partially apply lock up in 2nd 3rd and 4th

 

Ah, thought I had the number but was misidentifying it... It is a A340F according to the link. A 2002 V6 4WD. Well there's a little hope that maybe I could install one of the SONNAX kits without owning a machine shop. Gotta look up prices and testing procedures. I'd really like to get to the bottom of this regardless. No good to just sign on for a rebuild without knowing what's wrong with it. But it did get hot and there is a lot of black shit. Hopefully that's mostly converter material and the other soft parts will survive. Crystal ball questions I guess...

That doesn't seem right... The A340F was what mine came up as but those diagrams must be for an older unit. Specs are different like the solenoid resistance and number of bolts holding filter screen. I could read it off the door tag if I still had one but that got popped off when they rebuilt it and replaced with something that says "repaired" - fuckers.
The other solution I was on to seems like it doesn't work. I thought, well - keep it from trying to lockup and maybe it won't keep smoking the converter clutch. But the specs indicate it is under lockup when the solenoid is OFF?! What? I thought maybe I'd just put it back with the harness for the S3 solenoid disconnected. I really am done with this truck. After 12 years we don't owe each other a thing.

 

So
This weekend I did the drive cycle over and over. 300 miles this weekend.
No luck. Catalyst monitor still wont reset and still shows a stored code for P0770.
I ran the Tuck up a long step hill and long straight aways @55mph set on cruse control. no luck.
Got my 300$ ticket in the mail for getting pulled over because I dont have tags. Everything is paid just cant smog it. So I guess giveing me a 300$ ticket I cant aford will help Thank you California CHP. Assholes.

The truck is goin to sit Till I have the money for a new torque converter. Real close to selling this thing.

 

I've been chasing a similar torque converter lock up solenoid problem in my 05 Tundra and my truck does take off when you let off the brake. I was wondering if you had a solution to this problem? I have already replaced fluid and checked/cleaned all plugs on the trans harness. I will note that the truck seems to be ok one I force it into overdrive, and/or it comes to temp and I clear the code. Please let me know Steves.

 

Buy and install a new TCC solenoid is all I can think of

I never was able to figure it out. After replacing all the solinoids in the trans. I was done with it
At 200K supercharged miles I got rid of it and picked up a 05 Tundra. Best choice ever.
More power more room half the cost of a Tacoma.

 

Your Tundra uses the same transmission as the Tacoma trucks with a 4 liter engine .
