    Hey everyone,

I have an 05 Access Cab Long Bed base, and no tow hitch. I know there is a recovery point stock on the front passenger side, but it doesn't seem there is a factory rear recovery point. I should probably have a hitch regardless, can I just use any old Class III hitch, for example the Curt linked below?

Side note, if I were to use a hitch mounted winch, what would be the best way to get power to the rear? I do not have any plugs for towing as far as I can tell

    Thank you!

There are plenty of companies that make hitches for the tacoma or people who have taken them off to put on a bumper selling them. I’ve purchased from etrailer before

Power is fairly easy, you just need to make sure you have big enough gauge cables. You can run down the frame rails following existing wiring all the way to the rear and put an anderson plug (or whatever you prefer) to plug the winch into.

Thank you! Is class III sturdy enough? I see it's rated for 5000 lbs, can you use something like a Yankum on it or is that too much force?

Lots of people do. Odds are you aren’t going to rip the hitch off the frame, assuming everything is torqued properly.

Just make sure you use a hitch mounted recovery point, dont pull on a tow ball.

I run a local club here and we do a decent amount of offroading, I also recover vehicles as a side job. A quality hitch mount is fine, it should be bolted securely enough to the frame and with a quality shackle receiver it works great.. DONT pull on the chain connections, and do not use anything else besides a receiver designed for the shackle.. make sure everything connecting it is good quality.
