So my dad wants to junk his 99 4runner I'm mostly interested in the whole tow assembly but it doesn't look like they match. just wanted to double check before I spend a whole day taking it apart and trying to for a Square into a round hole. also what other parts should I try to salvage before sending it of to heaven.

The mirrors will fit and the front seats as well. Also the front suspension components are the same as well I believe.

Part the hell out of that thing before you junk it. Tacomas/4Runners are crazy part interchangeable.

If the tow hitch ends up not working, it wouldn't be that hard to fab/modify it to work. I have a friend who took a Tacoma tow hitch and put it on his Mercedes E320 Sedan.

It's funny because the Mercedes sedan has a braked towing weight of almost 6,000 pounds. Tows hell of a lot more than my 2.7l and even competes with some 2nd gens.
