    Sorry. My post about the receiver adapter was supposed to be funny.

    Hey that's my pic lol. I bent the hook because I was stuck to the frame in quick sand with 3 fullsize trucks pulling at the same time. The other hook also got bent. I was stuck so bad my warn 9000i winch with pulley would stall. Eventually got out after wrapping the frame multiple times with a grade 80 chain then tying it to a strap with 5 trucks pulling.

    The hooks were mounted on my 1985 fullsize bronco on 35" boggers.
    I later built a front hitch and haven't had anymore problems.

    Some days my humor button is turn off:) Those billet recovery points are nice, but when I am in the middle of doing stress analysis on work projects, I get kind of focused.

    The dog getting chipped was a major time killer since he took up with some through hikers a few days ago and was headed towards Maine, I had to take off work and go rescue him.

    A buddy took the hook install a different direction, still off the shelf parts but a little cleaner look:
    [IMG]
    The hook is fastened to the bracket with a grade 8 bolt then the hook is WELDED to the bracket, painted, then and the assembly is reinstalled with the factory bolts.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    I'll have to remember to avoid the "Dog Microchip" mod when I install my new hook!

    Thanks...since his exact genetic makeup is unknown (mother was a Springer Spaniel, and a DNA of one of his litter mates is inconclusive), we call him a Unaka Mountain Red, since we live near Unaka Mountain.

    Does anybody on here know if the bolts on the TRd Sport that hold the the “eye loop “ for transporting are the same bolts that I should use when installing the TRD OR tow hook ? Please and thanks

    would not use this for recovery, 11,200 pound breaking strength, a vehicle stuck could easily exceed that. A good shackle has a WWL (working load limit) of 4 3/4 tons. breaking strength should be 3 times the WWL. Crosby shackles. www.rigging.com has lots of good info

    They’re not the same length, the TRD OR tow hook bolts are longer.

    That's a quick way to the hospital or morgue. There's plenty of examples of what can happen when a recovery point fails from the sheer force of the tow line rebounding and flying back into the vehicle performing the recovery, let alone a vehicle sliding if this is a recovery on a slope.
