I've been looking all over but I can't find a replacement for the tow hook on my truck.

I'm looking to find something that I can replace the tow hook with a D-ring but they all say that they are not compatible with the TRD skid plate.

Has anyone found anything that will work with the Pro skid plate?

    IMG_3762 1.jpg

Never mind the scratches on the skid. I think I sent it too hard on the speed bumps at the mall.

Was there a specific reason why Toyota designed their OEM hooks that way? I have never seen it anywhere else as a standard, and I can't quite explain or find any literature why it looks like that. I'm sure Toyota had some use case in mind.

Looks more like a tie down for transport then anything for recovery !

It would not be hard to make your own D Ring attachments .

I have been installing D rings on all kinds of equipment over the years.

    I agree with this disagreement!
I have these demon hooks and they seem to be well designed and plenty strong to me.
I got to say I have not needed to use them yet but I wouldn't hesitate.

You have been up too late cooking that rhino ass on the grill. Come back when you get some sleep.

I wasn't talking about what's on the truck stock, I meant those shitty washers welded together in the link that one guy posted.

I agree, contact the manufacturer and they’ll tell you they are more for the look than anything. There is no stated rating. But do what you want.

Thanks. This looks like it will work. I'll have to use a soft shackle.

    From their description.
2016-2019 If you have a TRD Pro skid plate, you will need to use a soft shackle as the 3/4 inch shackle interferes with the OEM skid plate.

I have one, a little steep in price but it's rock f'ing solid.

Yes, if you want to spend the coin, that’s the best option short of a new bumper. Sos Offroad has one similar to the bpf one, but not certain if it can be used with pro skid and hard shackle
