Tow package

Any suspension difference with the tow package option?

Truck wise no.

But, when you hook the trailer up the rear end sags because of the crappy springs.

 

I have a prerunner, and with tow package it has 4 leaf pack... I've heard that w/o tow it would have three but cannot confirm.

 

Mine has the tow package and came with 3 leaf setup.

Thanks guys. I sold the 09. I'm going to look for the off road package and tow package to get better suspension. Again, I appreciate the responses.

 

There will be no difference on the rear springs, just OR coils on front and the stock Bilsteins for shocks/ struts.

 

No kidding! I will forget the off road, get an SR5 with tow package and improve the rear springs if necessary. Save money without the off road package. Again, many thanks.

 

I knew I'd eventually replace the whole suspension and add air lockers anyway, so I bought a base model. I can live without the interior upgrades and electronics, so why pay?

 

Here is what the tow package gets you:
Class-IV towing receiver hitch, transmission and supplemental oil coolers (transmission
cooler not available on manual transmission models), 130-amp alternator, heavy-duty
battery, 7-pin connector with converter, and Trailer-Sway Control (TSC)27 (V6 only)

Here is what the Off Road package gets you over the SR5:
Off-road-tuned suspension with Bilstein® shocks, electronically controlled locking rear differential,
different 16-in. alloy wheels with P265/70R16 BFGoodrich AT tires, Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) (4x4 models only), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) (4x4 automatic transmission models only), chrome grille surround and rear bumper, TRD Off-Road graphics, engine skid plate, front tow hook, Sport fabric-trimmed water repellent front seats with driver’s lumbar support (passenger-side fold-flat feature delete), 115V/400W deck-mounted AC power outlet.

I considered an SR5 but found the extras in the TRD package worth the small premium.
