New truck seems awesome except the tow ratings. From what I've seen, 6500 and 6000 lbs. How do you not increase the tow rating with a much more powerful engine and stronger/stiffer frame? I don't get it.

All the stuff bolted to the frame matter.

While it may only pull the same weight, it *should* do it easier with torque at a lower RPM.

I don't understand either. Almost doubled payload ratings yet kept tow ratings the same.

Not a big deal to me personally, 6000+ is plenty for a midsize truck I think. I do wonder what the limiting factor is though. Could it be cooling related?

Question. What did you think it would be? 8? 9?

    I was guessing 7500-8000.

My 21 sport has a 990 lb payload. So no chance I can ever come close to 6800 lbs towing. I'm currently looking at a set up that's around 4000 lbs fully loaded. And that will probably push me over the top for weight on the truck. If a 24 non hybrid off road can pull off a 1400+ payload, I suspect you could tow more with it. Because the payload is a huge limiter in 3rd gen tacos.

I have a 2nd Gen, supercharged. I tow a 22' boat that probably weighs around $5k lbs occasionally but have restricted myself to relatively flat tows. The new truck certainly seems to have the power to pull it to some other spots I'd like to go that require some towing over steep grades w/o ringing the hell out of the motor.

Just feels like a big miss when they've upgraded everything else and lot of the competition seems like have tow rating in the 7k range.
