Let’s just say these 3rd gen’s don’t really have the manual clutches i’m used to while wheeling.

Did Oriflamme in anza today.. well, half. Then stopped at the top to have food, and it wouldn’t get into gear while the engine was running once we were done. Maybe i got a bad apple, maybe i’m an idiot, and maybe i don’t mind too much because i have more excuses to mod the truck now.

    How the day started:

Probably welded the clutch assembly together. Whatever, shit happens while wheeling between bad gear, bad installs, and more than likely user error. All good though! I’ll be back out next weekend

How exactly did you burn a clutch out on Oriflamme?

That really sucks, man. Half the fun of wheeling is installing new parts, mirite?

Highly unlikely. Toyota considers that a wear item. A couple guys have tried.

Digging the positive perspective dude. I would have been beyond pissed and let it ruin my day. Good on you and here's for a quick fix to the Taco.

Not sure. I can put the truck into gear while it’s off. Turns on while pushing the clutch in, but the gears seem stuck once trying to put into any gear. Car will lurch forward if i turn it on while in gear, while holding the pedal, so seems like the clutch won’t disengage? Not sure but i’m sure a shop in SD won’t mind making some money.

A ZR2 in the group and no airbags were deployed? Disappointed...

Don’t know about the clutch for the 6 cyl, but on the 4 cyl you can get under the truck on the driver’s side and watch the slave cylinder move while the driver works the clutch pedal, might see if that’s visible/working for you.

Sounds like a half broken clutch fork.

You won’t see the broken fork from the outside, but inside it’s snapped at the Y and flexing.

So, pop the clutch out and replace the fork?

Pop the tranny back and remove the fork. Don’t even really need to drop the trans, just wiggle it to get room. But before you do anything, see if you can get a good peek at the fork.

I assume there’s a boot around it. I haven’t even looked on my third gen lol
