Yup... I questioned the legality of it after I saw a guy in Tucson doing that... asked a cop buddy of mine and he said it was completely legal as long as the trailer directly behind the vehicle was a gooseneck or 5th wheel.

might be legal in canada, going to look into it. last fall i was working on a major highway and i seen at least 100 trucks pulling 2 trailers heading up north to go hunting in a 2 day period. that is why i was asking on how safe this is and if our trucks are 2 small for this, even if it is in the weight requirement.

I saw this last summer in Vermont for we get lots of folks coming south of the border camping & fishing. They were towing large pop ups & fishing boats w/ canadien plates. Domestic trucks tho fwiw.

I doubt it's legal in quebec, I got this off the Ontario MTO site

"It is against the law to tow more than one trailer behind your vehicle unless using a commercial vehicle. You cannot carry people in a house or boat trailer. "

    source:http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/safety/topics/trailer.shtml

So at least here unless you have a commercial sticker on your taco it's not legal.

I have never seen it in BC Canada and I have lived here for 33 years. I think maybe Oregon it is legal but I don't know.

Easy to say. But if or when something bad happens, then what would be your comment?

Like a previous poster said "The camper's frame may not be able to handle the stress of the boat.

I pull an 18' bass boat & couldn't imagine anymore weight to try & stop.

"It can be done and it can be safe........but it is easy to have things set up wrong and end up on your lid. I do pull a 30ft TT with a 17.5' boat without problem but I'm also no amature at towing stuff and I've studied what to do and what not to do. First things first, you need to be legal. ND length limit is 75' from the front bumper to the rear(I'm 74'), all trailers need to have lights and saftey chains and the lead trailer needs to have brakes. I would recomend them on the boat also.

Now what I would make sure is your camper weighs atleast 2-3 times what your boat weighs, if it doesn't good luck going down hill. Your camper also needs to be a tandem axle. The boat doesn't have to be but if it is then you have another benifit. Now the most important thing you need a truck that can handle the weight, most likely a 3/4 ton because 10k with two pivot points behind a 1/2 just doesn't work real well. Next you need to get all of your tongue weights, make sure you have sufficent tongue weight (10-15% total vehicle weight) and this goes for both trailers but don't go overboard. Now, at this point if everything is level when it's hooked up you have a pretty good chance of being succesfull. If not you need to level everything, I strongly recomend weght distrubution bars and at the very least a sway bar between the boat and the camper. If you want to be really safe you can add a sway bar to the camper/truck also.

The other option you have it to buy a henelsy arrow hitch ($$$$$) or there dirict competitor (I can't remember the brand) these will allow you to tow with the same stability as a fifth wheel but you will pay dearly to do so!"

Yea, I cant see this being done safely in a Tacoma. You would need a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup to pull this off without any safety issues.

Buy a canoe to carry on a rack mounted on your bed-rails and tow the trailer behind... safest, most economical option...

I don't think it is legal in Quebec, check that out first. I know for sure it is legal in Alberta, and maybe Sask? As long as your not over the GCVW of your truck you should be alright. I would not load anything into the boat in the rear, keep it as light as possible. I would also suggest a good weight distribution hitch on the truck. And drive slow and cautiously, your camping after-all. Make sure where ever you pull into, that you can drive through, you WILL NOT be able to back that up very well at all. A 5th wheel would be best. If it is legal, hitch it up empty, and go for a little drive just to see how it handles.
