Towing 6000 pounds with the Tacoma

    2005 Tacoma extended cab 4 cylinder manual shift
    skid plate (homemade), Bilsteins, extra rear leaf springs, front lift spacers, Amsoil in everything + bypass oil filter
    You are correct about the unbraked weight limit. When I had my 16 foot flatbed built, I had them put brakes on all 4 wheels instead of just 2. When using the 7000 pound weight limit it would seem mandatory to have 4, but I guess it's not.

    I tow a 25' Travel Trailer, loaded it ways 6000lb, I towed it with the stock suspension and it towed ok, but the truck drove and handled like crap. I have since installed a new suspension (3" Rancho lift front - 2.5" rear, 2000lb Helwig helper springs, larger tires 285/70/17, Volant cold air ram intake). The Taco tows the camper 100% better, drives and handles great. If you are going to tow that kind of weight I highly suggest you upgrade the suspension.
