Don't do It! My trailer is max 5700 lbs, usually 5200. Live in CO and going anywhere, Its rough. Picking up a new truck tomorrow to replace it in fact. Sad to sell it, but, its not a tow vehicle. Everything was maxed out and that was with a 550 tongue weight with WDH. Wife + myself + 3 Dogs with the back seat stripped out.

Old thread but.. My camper is about 5700lbs as well.. I ended up selling my Taco and bought a Tundra.

You can tow anything if youre brave enough and Ive seen plenty of that, but i’d say either get a bigger truck or smaller camper if youre towing anything more than a few miles at that weight.

Weights aside 30 feet is too much trailer for the taco. A good crosswind will have you fighting that trailer for your life.

Personal opinion- it's a much more pleasurable drive if you can keep it under 20 feet and 4000 pounds wet. You want to arrive at your camp site relaxed- it really sucks to set up camp when you're wound up from a stressful drive.

Sell it to the significant other that small is cute and fun. It fits more places. You can get away from people with the small trailer.

Where can you take the big trailer? Basically an rv park that has all the spacing and privacy of a truck stop.

Edit: damn, didn't pay attention that it was a necro post.

Look at GCWR (11,360 lbs). I am of the mind that with an appropriate setup, under GCWR is manageable. That’s measured with all passengers, full load out of each vehicle, and full tanks.

I’m really glad we chose a ~3500 lb camper not a ~4500 lb one. 5700 is going to put you at 11,360 GCWR really quickly.

Can't wait to tow my trailer now. Way better than anticipated and shouldn't take me 3 hours to decompress afterwords. '
