Towing a 5x8 Utility Trailer

Fwiw for the OP, I've pulled a 2700 lb trailer across the mid-Atlantic states in summer without running into transmission temp issues (I've monitored the temps with an inexpensive bluetooth ODB dongle and the OBD Fusion app.) With only ~1200 lbs you don't need a monitor and you can run in overdrive gears. I wouldn't use cruise control (or at least wouldn't let it downshift and rev into the 4k rpm range as there is no need for that.. just accelerate like it's not a rental.)
