    Rain Visors,

I agree, wth a MT I Can feel when I’m bogging and with a flat road and No one around me I’ll happily townin lower higher gears. With the AT, you need to worry about heat and other factors. MT. I CAN FEEL JT KUT

    Rain Visors,
Yea, I’m going through what I have and I mean I have five 4-1/2 grinders. I was doing a big stone job and every guy needed one, now I have five. I’m keeling one of everything, and the rest is getting given away, or craigslist. The extra weight both physical and mental will be nice

You didn't strike me as some regular Tom, Dick, and Harry asking people how to tow, just if the truck can handle it and I'm going to say absolutely 100% yes it can. I've towed my trailer thousands of miles, and I do mean thousands. You should be fine.

I would be less concerned with "what" you are carrying (towing), and more concerned with "how much (weight)" you are carrying.

    Rain Visors,

Yea, I’m going to need to change the lay out a bit. I had a few heavy saws at the front, but my last truck wouldn’t have noticed. Change the lay out, get rid of a lot of stuff I don’t need. The trailer volume may be overkill but it will be nice having extra space vs cramped. I appreciate the advice- I think I’m going to be fine with this, going to order break controller. And I wasn’t yelling with caps. Autocorrect went haywire and I didn’t notice when I hit reply lol

It says not to use 5th or 6th when engine breaking. I use the upper gears all the time when towing a light load. I've had to go down to 3rd coming down a mountain before.....cranking over 4krpm to save brakes . Basically, you need to use your brain, not the generic info in the manual.

What gets me is that it says something about charging efficiency. Pure bullshit.

    Rain Visors,
I know, was just making a point of how my weight has ballooned over the past few years

It's funny you say this because I've thought this many times too. You could tell when my 2nd gen had enough... my 3rd gen acts like the more you give it the more it wants and it can be almost scary sometimes!

Check out the video of the 2016 Tacoma pulling a 5000lb loaded 7x18 (I think) up the Ike gauntlet. Granted they were driving the damn thing at redline for most of the video but the truck did it. More proof you'll be fine too.

I have a 7 x 14+ 2.5’ V-nose. The rear squats a bit with a fairly light load. I carry less than 1000lbs inside. A weight distribution hitch is in my future just because the truck is much lighter than my old 3/4T so it would make me less worried about load balance front to rear. The overall weight isn’t my issue it’s the aerodynamics and I think the v nose helps a lot. At 7’ wide you need towing mirrors. Your options are strap on or clamp on. Without them don’t expect to see the fenders on your trailer.

I know a lot of people play the you will be fine game. Read your manual and do a test drive with your existing trailer loaded how you do intend to tow it. Forget the airbags and get a weight distribution hitch. Airbags only deal with squat but do nothing for keeping weight on your front (steering) wheels.
