    That's why some semi's have lockers and interaxle diff lockers. Spin-out is a huge cause of diff failure on semis. Nice work though.

    and what this guy said, it's not like the semi was at a dead stop and being pulled out, the guy was obviously giving it some gas to help out. now if he was all wheels off and stuck in some mud, then I'd be worried for the OP's truck (but, afterall, it's his truck and whatever he does is his own doing)

    I would have used the chain and chained the spinning drive wheel on the semi so it wouldn't turn.

    Though I thought tractors had locking diffs but apparently that one was lacking.
    Disclaimer: Only cabs I've ever been in were logging trucks used off-road.

    Most trucks like that have lockers and interaxle diff lockers, some but not all long haul type have lockers.

    Obviously you read way more into my post. Momentum provided by any tow vehicle when a tractor trailer is involved is somewhat impressive but the Tacoma shouldn't be singled out as superior in any way in this situation.

    Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
    Most trucks have a power divider. It works like transfer case dividing the power between front and rear drive axles. I never saw any locking diffs at school, or at the shop I worked in Ohio. Must be an expensive option for specialized rigs.

    Semi tractors are surprisingly easy to get stuck--even in 4WD. Once their weight balance is just enough off-center on the drive axle(s), it's over. Back when I used to drive OTR, I got stuck turning around in gravel parking lots and even had to chain up once to get over a 2" bump on ice because I was on an odd side angle.

    Only drove for four years, but never saw a locking diff. Every truck I drove had a power divider though.
