I’m looking at buying a first generation Rav4. It needs to be towed. It looks like they weigh approximately 2,700 lbs. Towing capacity for a manual transmission 3.4L V6 is approximately 3,500 lbs? Would you tow one with your first Gen Tacoma?

would depend on the distance. If it was a short haul, I might would risk it. Otherwise, I'd look at another means of getting it home.

If you have a Auto Trans, don't use overdrive.

2021-08-02_10-24-03_891.jpg Hello, I have a 2500 lb camper that I've pulled almost 40,000 miles. I have a 2.7l, 4 banger, manual transmission with 256,000 miles on it. No trouble so far. Now get me in Colorado pulling Raton pass and I'm in 2nd gear screaming 30 mph. But she gets her done. Hope that helps.

With the TRD package it can tow up to 5000 lbs. (No flaming, I can't remember where I found it lol.) It should be able to pull a Rav4, but I wouldn't do it cross country.
