I'd say hell no, but under those circumstances, ok no big deal. Just give extra space. The trailer has brakes.

The only factor limiting you here is tongue weight. You need to balance it to be between 400 and 1k lbs, otherwise your nose is going to be in the air.

I had a ridiculously heavy load in a 4k lb cargo trailer when we were moving. It was probably pushing 8000lbs total. The Taco got it moving fine, I just stayed slow and went careful. The only sketchy part was backing down a driveway while turning. I lost traction up front while reversing and had to manually engage the trailer brakes to stop, because the truck was just along for the ride at that point.

Funny enough, I was able to engage the ebrake and just draaaaag the trailer back straight and reattempt. Twice. I'm not used to an 8' wide 20something long trailer. The truck actually had the power for it. I was shocked.

All that said, I'd do it again, but I would NOT have backed it down a steep grade.

But I'm OVtuned I got the POWER!!!!

JK. i appreciate the insight. I plan on finding out weights and seeing where I land on the scale of safety. I've done a lot of towing with F150s and CJ7s with detroit lockers when we really should have had something larger, not trying to ruin my new tacoma early on.

But for real i got the OV power now. It has been a fun week of driving fellers.

    Ya, don't
Ya, don't go over 7,500ish for sure and watch the tongue weight. 6 miles on a flat road with very light traffic, I would not be worried about stretching the limits a little, just use use extra caution and sounds like you got plenty of common sense.

Air bags help immensely in towing I found. I did not want to add them but the guy at 4wheelparts showed them to me on his truck and talked me into it. Best functional mod I have done. I level any load, in the bed or on the hitch.
Big load on back and level plumb. It's the first thing people look at when a truck is pulling something large imo. It stands out if you are sagging. I have a double horse trailer back there and she is level.

I think everyone missed the key here, said his wife is not good driving a stick. If that's a manual trans you will be buying a clutch pretty quickly pulling that.

I’ve towed my L3800 a few times. It’s not much of a problem until I gotta start on a hill. At that point you might as well put it in 4low.

Approx. 7500 lbs with trailer and another 1000lbs in the bed.

    I have air bags.

    the implements and trailer differences.

Farmers usually don't use the word "can't" in my experience.

As I grew up on a 782 acre farm I can tell you we have huge shops and tools to fix all the shit we break also! LOL...

You would not believe the things I have done with 80's Toyota's with a 22R. That said I had other trucks to get in when I tore them up.

I'd just drive the tractor to wherever just dont do it between 4 and 6 pm , the pavements rough on the tires, so try not to make it a habit. I get behind them sometimes when I'm up that way going fishing. If you get it out on 515 going down a hill and put it in neutral you might even hit 20 mph.

Going out on a limb, I am guessing the OP hauls this up and down the roads where he lives just about all year long. Happy Friday!

Keep in mind when considering my advise that I once put 1.5 tons of gravel on a 78 F100 that held 8lbs of oil pressure cold with a 6k pound lowboy and a JD 2155 with a loader and blade and tore across a mountain on I64 at 70MPH in my younger days.
