    2003 Tacoma PreRunner 2WD 3.4 V6 engine. 170,XXX miles.

So I'm about to move cross country from Florida to Arizona.

I can't decide wether I should get a 5×8 Uhaul trailer or 6x12 Uhaul trailer.

I followed the Tacomaworld "Towing bible guide" I have all the things mentioned in that forum post. So as it stands my truck is rated for 5500 pounds of max towing capacity.

I just don't know if it's ok to tow a trailer like a 6x12 cross country with a combined weight of approximately 3,000 pounds.

Any advice? Is this safe or should I opt out for a 5x8 trailer?

    Thanks.

The nice thing about the 6x12 is it has the surge brakes, where as the 5x8 doesn’t. I would feel better about that, especially if you’re only at 3k combined weight.
