The quick and temporary temperature jump (only while coming out of TC) should have minimal impact on the transmission oil life. The life of trans fluid drops as it heats up, but those temp/life charts are for sustained (pan) operating temps... as per inquiry to the Mobil One technical department.

The above being said my 2021 tranny runs hotter (195'ish) and I will be changing fluid at about 40-50k miles. Will also be adding a tranny cooler right after 20k oil change, if not sooner...

@SLeeper512 Good deets, I'm going out tomorrow for a 200 mile trip and will pin the tstat open and track the temps again and report back here

UPDATE: pinned the tstat on and took the drive from pdx to long beach. A few solid climbs the biggest being a 1 mile, 7% grade. I had no problems holding speed (the posted 55mph) and just like you all said the trans was dramatically cooler! Pan never touch 190 and the converter peaked out at 207 but quickly dropped back to the 180s once I crested the hill. Thank you all so much for the advise, this worked amazingly well!

On the beach I put it in 2 nd or 3 rd. Keeps the trans temps down. My understanding is it locks the torque converter, reducing the slippage.

I’m going to pin my tstat and try driving in 4th gear(manual mode) on the highway. I’ll report back with the findings.

putting it in D will allow you to go into overdrive. so keep it in 4th and you are fine.

I you are in S/manual mode it will automatically shift up to the gear you are in. If you are in 4th it will go from 1st to 4th when starting from a start, and possibly down to 3rd if going up a steep hill fast.
