I just purchased this 2001 Tacoma with the v6. I believe that it has the towing package. It is a 2 wheel drive. I assume that it will tow a bass boat but not sure. . Do these trucks tow okay or is there something I need to do to help it? I believe the gross weight is 2800 pounds that I will be towing but will need to make sure.
    Thanks.

Should handle the weight just fine, but if it's only a 2wd you'll want to make sure you don't go too far down a slick boat ramp, lol.

Thank you for your answer. I see the ETC button and assume that should be engaged while towing as well. There is also another button next to that and from reading the little sticker on the door, that must lock it down in granny gear or something?

Yes, "ECT Power" holds the transmission in gear until a higher RPM, so you have more power for towing. Basically all it does is alter your shift points, but it means you don't have to hold the throttle to the floor in order to keep the revs up for more oomph.
What does the button next to it say? If it says "RR Diff Lock" then it'll lock both rear wheels together so they turn at the same rate, and you'll love it for boat ramps. If you wanted to lock the truck into first just pull the shift lever out of 'Drive' and all the way back to "1" or "L"

That's probably the rear locker. It forces the two back wheels to spin at the same rate while it's engaged. Don't try to drive around the streets with it engaged but it will be nice when pulling up that slick boat ramp or for getting yourself unstuck.

Defrost mirrors, compass/temp display rear view mirror, rear wiper on camper shell, trans.cooler.
You may want to get a transmission cooler just to keep the transmission healthy.
