Only if you are on the brakes.

I guess witnessing what happens when a heavy trailer pushes a truck down a wet steep grassy hill has me in “safe” mode. Well, not really, but I do try to warn others of the risk you take when loading heavy.

I wouldn't reccomend it, you may be ok with that combo on backroads and county roads but I wouldn't wana take it on the highway.
I'm not sure how the trans would like it either, your for sure don't wana tow in overdrive (5th).

From what I've researched, the manual transmission are bullet proof. The clucth would give out before the transmission

FWIW, I don’t think much is going to happen @4200 lbs.
Not if you have all the stuff you say you have.

But I won’t tell you to do it. Because that’s just me.
I will do things I tell other people not to, but then I take full responsibility for my actions.

Not really. The 6 has 236 hp and 266 foot pounds of torque. If you are making 220 wheel it’s probably at redline rpm. Super nice yota though.

He probably is making more power than the 4.0. It is rated at 236 crank horsepower at 5200rpm. The 4.0 sits at about 205whp stock.

It may be, I still wouldn't reccomend towing in overdrive. I don’t reccomend towing in overdrive on any light duty vehicle, the transmissions aren't designed for it.

I sold my 2011 v6 DC and there's a huge difference in power. It must be the 4.10 rear end they put in the 4cyl 4x4

He’s got a supercharger. Probably has more power than a stock v6.

Op don’t listen to the puckered Sphincter Boy Scouts …. You’re good to go.

That's also providing you have the weight distributed properly, an improperly balanced trailer of that weight can toss a light truck into the ditch like a tin can.

It's a tacoma if you want to tow heavy trailers buy a 3/4 ton truck. I will only tow a quad or a sxs on my light trailer. Anything else I'll borrow my folks diesel 3/4 ton

Fun fact, the toyota hilux with the 2.7l and 5 speed manual has a towing capacity of 5500lbs. Why?

Na more like 10k I think some are up to 20k now. The full-size diesels and whatnot. Gearing definitely makes a difference but there are a lot of factors that go into towing. Your braking system, the overall weight of your truck what tow package set up you have. Safety is a factor for sure but I used to pull overweight in my 88 ford 300 all the time but it didn’t do it any favors. If you have skills you can do a lot of things you probably shouldn’t but don’t forget to factor in the wear it’s going to put on your truck.

If the hilux with the same configuration has a towing capacity of 5500lbs, then toyota America rates the 4cyl at 3500lbs to upcharge the v6 to customers. I've driven the 3rd gen tacoma with the v6 and it's super weak, but has a tow rating of 6500lbs. It's a money scheme
