Hey everyone, my truck was towed last night and the towing company jacked up my bumper pretty good. They are accepting responsibility so I’m thinking I want to go with an aftermarket bumper, any recommendations of one that will also keep the factory parking sensors. And tow connectors?

BSM will be lost but CBI makes a good looking high clearance that retains parking sonar and towing plugs but does not keep factory hitch.

Good luck getting the tow company to pay for an aftermarket bumper.

Probably cheaper than a paint-matched and installed factory one...depending if they damaged the sub-structure or not.

Don’t I have the right by law to go to any shop I choose? Or get a cash payment of he work estimate? And then I could pay the different out of pocket...

I see what you're saying, but the OP is implying that the towing company's insurance carrier will just cut him a check after he gets a quote for repair, then buy the bumper. That's the gray area, as some insurance carriers have a policy to only send the check to the repair shop, while others will cut the check to the owner of the vehicle.

"Right by law", lol. Sounds like they are paying you off and keeping it away from insurance. Law isn't part of this. Take whatever money you can get and buy your own.

I'd probably show them an estimate of whatever a local body shop quotes you, and tell them to cash it out, and then buy the aftermarket on your own and install it however you choose.

Also, FWIW, I have a Pelfreybilt rear bumper and I love it! Super great fit, and seems stout as hell.

And I have my undamaged factory rear bumper (Inferno TRDOR with color-matched bumper) should you want to save some money and replace it with an OEM part...PM me if you are interested!

Toyota needs to stop calling these 3 pieces of plastic cheese, a "bumper". It's misleading.:annoyed:

You know what, I just went outside and upon closer inspection noticed that all I’ll need is a new plastic cap on that side...no aftermarket bumper for me :/

If you don't try and nickel and dime the insurance company they are probably willing to work with you.

I got in a fender bender the other night, parked in a parking space. Same area. While I dont have an estimate on damage yet, I am looking at Fab Fours and SOS concepts because they are local to me.

Standard is to go to 3 different repair shops and get estimates. Then submit them for payment and they usually pay the lowest estimate. If you took them to small claims court this would be the minimum requirement. Just watch out with your personal insurance carrier they usually have timelines you must follow if your submitting a claim to them if the towing company stiffs you. They know the rules better than you do.

Go find a big boulder or wall and back into it a few times - then you can get a plate bumper :p

What we really want to know is why did you need a tow in the first place?

So, the hunt is back on, ill be looking into the C4Fab, I've also seen the TJM bumper and like that one too. Just got the estimate from the dealership. $1,100 before taxes.

I got towed from my complex because residents are apparently not allowed to park in visitors parking :/
