I know the manual V6 is geared lower than the auto so RPM's are higher at highway speeds. Is it okay to tow a small trailer (3,500 lbs) in 6th since the gear ratios are different for the manual?

Are you not allowed to tow in top gear in an auto? I have never of heard this limitation for a manual or an auto trans. I would think as long as the engine isnt struggling too hard or your rpm's arent too high you should be good to tow in any gear you want (considering its a reasonable weight your trying to pull).

Top gear on the auto is pretty high thus making tranny heat up more easily. Most people suggest not towing in 6th and sometimes not 5th in the auto but the manual is geared lower so I am not sure about it's limitations.

from what I have found it sounds as though 3500 is the towing capacity of the manual transmission truck. The additional capacity on the auto is only added when you have the trans cooler. Have you found other documentation that states otherwise?

Yes, easily, all day long. I bet you it would hold speed on a 5% grade at 65 too. I never have to shift out of 6th for any highway hills unloaded.

That is not true. Towing capacity is 6400 lbs on the manual + tow package. It is 3500 without tow package.
