a few goodies here and there!
    Hello,

I haven't been here in awhile but thought id stop by for a truck related question.

I am about to move across the country and was considering towing my wife's car across the country hopefully if I can. She has a very small Scion XB and I was looking at car trailers. I have a 2012 Tacoma V6 with the Tow Package, I have just never towed anything.

Currently my truck is a bit lifted. I have Maxtrac 4" Spindles and the back end droops a little because I never had enough money to level it off properly. Will I need to level it off in order to tow her car? If so, would this just entail a better rear end suspension? Never touched it other than an add-a-leaf. So it has a very minor lean.

I've seen the bigger trucks towing boats and stuff that people have lifted retarded high that have the drop down on the lift. Would I need something like that? Thanks very much for your time. Like I said previously, I have zero clue. Appreciate it!

Rule of thumb is get a hitch where the ball will sit 17” off the ground.

So you’ll need a goose neck hitch. Probably one that drops about 6-8”.

You will more than likely be at close to max towing capacity. You’ll need a trailer with brakes and a trailer brake adapter in the truck.

For someone with zero towing experience... use caution. You will be getting shitty mileage and will need to stop for gas every 200 miles.
You will be driving in 4th likely at max 55mph. It’s going to suck.

If you have over 100k on the truck or close do a full fluid flush on everything important (trans, rear diff, brakes, power steering, radiator, etc). Youll need fluids in top shape.

I say, just have her drive the car where it needs to be.
