I've always put bikes in the bed but those are lighter bikes (sport/dirt) and a longer (6') bed. I usually back into a ditch or find a shop that will let me use their loading ramp, much safer.

Sick S1KRR. Hauling my bike to the track without having to use a trailer is the #1 reason I'm getting a Tacoma. Everything else is secondary. I've never had any issues or sketchy moments loading bikes into the back of any truck, so I'm not sure why there is always some chatter against it. I can see having to resort to a trailer for a huge Harley, but why ride a Harley? ;)
