It got damaged. The hook ring got bent pretty bad. Still capable of doing the job, but it wasn't my fault and is getting replaced by the person at fault.

Some information of where you are located may be nice. Don't need a street address, but city or something. People may know people that could help out.

If it is just the hook ring, a BFH & a bit of black paint will fix it...if you feel it needs replacing at another's expense, dealer is your only real choice...or a salvage yard if one from an older yoota will fit.

Given how similar the frames are between the 2nd and 3rd gens...I wouldn't be surprised at all if the hitches are the same.

I have the tow package on my 2015 and pull a small 16 ft boat and trailer. It is about 2000 lbs. It pulls that really easy. I don't drive like a wild man, though and try to take it easy when I do have to brake. Good Luck.

I tow a 22' sailboat with mine. Boat and trailer come in at just under 3000#. My '13 4x4 with the tow package handles it easily. Stops really well even though the trailer has no brakes.

towed for the first time with the truck last week in 90 degree heat. 2600lb car on a uhaul dolly so probably about 3000 lbs total. kept it in 4th gear and did about 65mph (2700rpm) some pretty hilly terrain but about 60 miles. braking was fine just have to know you have the extra weight and brake earlier. getting up to speed wasnt bad have to keep you foot in the throttle pretty good to keep it from upshifting a bit too early. this was all with the factory tow package no trailer brake

    Clazzio seat covers,
Someone else's fault ... a buddy driving your truck? ... rear ended in traffic? ... if they're paying replace with OEM ... '16 still has the new truck smell ... just my opinion ... good luck.
