My 07 V6 has the 7 contact plug and the square hitch. I have no idea if I have the towing pkg or not.
The wife will not camp anymore, but she will trailer!

Say I roll into the dealer and ask to be upgraded.
How much time & money am I looking at?
I already have a price on Firestone bags for the extra weight.

Is there anything else I should look for?

    TIA

So the dealership should be able to tell you if you have the tow package, I understand if youve got the 7 pin its likely you do.
A standard truck tow package includes - heavier duty hitch, 7 pin connector, transmission cooler, larger alternator and better rear brakes. Firestone bags are a good idea if you are going to to regularly tow closer to the limit of 6500lb. I have pulled 4000lb twice from Durham NC to Atl Ga.
I dont know if toyota does this but I know some manufacturers upgrade the shaft and rear axle.

As it is anything more than a few hundred pounds causes problems.
I only need the extra weight occasionally.
If I had the bags, I could rent a nice trailer for a few days.
I want to get the extra trans/oil coolers anyway.

I'm not going for the extra compressor.
I can adjust the weight a few times a year.

    TIA

My 07 has a lowering kit, I won't be going off road. lol
Bilstein shocks and 2013 18" wheels.
    I am very happy w/ride.
I would like to tow a trailer a few times a year.

Not sure what my load limit is supposed to be?
But more than a few hundred pounds is a problem.

I do not want the rougher ride of an extra spring.
The airbags should do the trick.

If I do have the towing package.
Will I need to add anything for towing a trailer w/elect brakes?
Or am I connect and go?

If youve got the tow package then you have the connection for the a trailer break controller from the factory, its in the cab near the parking break, Ill take a picture of the connection later. When you get firestone airbags, DO NOT get the ones with the compressor as when it breaks your screwed, get ones with a schrader valve. Since you are lowered I have no idea what that would do your the towing capacity.

Also read this, its a great write up on everything towing

Look at your engine. The oil filter in particular. Does it have a metal piece below the filter with two hoses? If so, that is the oil cooler which comes with the tow package.
Tow package will be oil cooler, trans cooler (if automatic), higher output alt, larger battery (group 27 I think?), pre wired for brake controller, 7 pin plug, hitch.

Looks like I have two hoses below the oil filter.
The lowering kit is the opposite of a lift kit.
It drops 2' in front and 3" in the rear.
    No change to the springs.
Makes it look like a normal truck.
    I am very happy.

That means you have the OEM towing pac. You should also have the pink fan clutch.

That should put you at a 6500# capacity....with proper tongue weight and balance of the load.

Sounds like you have the factory tow package. You should also have the aux trans cooler installed infront of the radiator (seen in 4th pic from Joey below the horns).

Personally, I prefer the automatic leveling on the airbags. There have been times when I have helped people who broke down with a trailer when the tow truck wouldn't tow with their trailer attached. I hooked up and didnt even have to think about having enough air in my bags.
Every time I change my oil, I pull the filter off the compressor and blow it out.

My '15 came with the pigtail harness to make an electric trailer brake controller somewhat plug and play.

    Not sure about an '07.

I thought my leg was being pulled, 'pink fan clutch'
I should be able to pull something that should make the wife and I comfortable.

I hear about towing 31' trailers, that sounds a little big for our needs.
Any suggestions for something easily tow-able, perhaps a slide out? :)
I believe in the 7 Ps.

I think trucks with the tow package were. Mine didnt have it, so everything has to be/has been added. Not sure what the comment on the pink fan hub is for. No tow package but mine has the pink hub.

I'm looking at the Keystone Passport 2200rbwe, but I'm looking at something I'll be living in full time with trips to state and national parks very now and then. For something light that would be comfortable towing around, R-Pod has a layout with small slide out (kitchen I think), and Micro Minnie 2106 has a layout with small slide out for the couch.

Tow pac has a pink fan clutch. That's one way to tell if it's OEM. :notsure:

So I will need an elect brake controller?
Anything else I need besides wider side mirrors?
    How much are we talking?
