Yeah, 2800 seems right. I have used Protege brake controllers before. Do you have the factory tow package? I would say total trailer weight is 5k lbs. very doable with a factory towing package, add a controller.

I have a Sherline, and it is pretty sweet. Based on some of the trailers I see going down the highway, I'd guess that a lot of people don't put much thought into towing properly.
